Rocket Access Speeds up Dial-up for HiWAAY Internet Services

HiWAAY Internet Services’ new Rocket Access accelerates dial-up Internet,
making Web pages load up to twice as fast on first visits and three to five
times faster on subsequent visits.
Rocket Access, a dial-up accelerator, will increase the speed of most Web
content, including all text (HTML, markup and javascript), most graphics and
photos (including jpeg and gif images) and most banner ads. It will also
speed up emails that contain images. In addition, files such as MP3 and
executables, when downloaded from within a Web browser, will download at a
faster speed.
The accelerator works by delivering text and graphics more efficiently, and
intelligently retaining and reusing Web pages and page elements that have
previously been sent to a PC. It can also block pop-ups and Web ads, which
slow down Web pages. Most Web pages will load in under seven seconds with
Rocket Access.
Rocket Access is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 and above
and with
Macintosh OS X 10.2 and above. (The Macintosh client will be available by
the end of the year.) The service requires no additional hardware for a PC.
HiWAAY’s Premium dial-up account includes Rocket Access at no additional
cost, or it may be added to other types of dial-up accounts for $3.95 per
month.
All of HiWAAY’s dial-up accounts also include multiple email boxes,
free
server space for hosting personal Web pages, spam and virus filtering, and
WebMail, which allows a member to check email from anywhere with a Web
browser.
